Programming

We enjoy being spontaneous. It's part of our vibrant character. We've also learned that we can accomplish meaningful things when we direct our energies toward a purpose.

Our first purpose is to create an experience that will benefit you and those around you. That's why we developed The Phi Mu Experience. It's a sequential program focusing on the needs of collegiate women during all stages of their undergraduate life. It was created to ensure that each Phi (the term for our new members) and collegiate member has the best experience possible through her Phi Mu membership. It begins the moment you pledge Phi Mu and become a new member, or Phi, and continues until graduation.

I Am Phi Mu:
The first stage, I Am Phi Mu, is Phi Mu's eight week new member program. The program emphasizes the Phi Mu experience including an orientation to the organization, expectations of membership and education on involvement and leadership opportunities. All members receive a "Phi Manual." Along with the Phi Manual, members receive access to an interactive online supplement program, "Phi Phacts."  We focus on providing a positive, interactive educational program for our members. Hazing is not tolerated in any form.  Proof of our commitment includes sponsorship of the Anti-Hazing Hotline and being a Bronze Level Sponsor of www.hazingprevention.org

The Chapter Development Program:
The second stage, The Chapter Development Program, benefits all collegiate members of Phi Mu. Your time in college will be filled with academic and social opportunities. In light of that we developed a chapter meeting strategy that is personally enriching without further complicating your life. The curriculum for chapter development meetings is chosen locally by each chapter's leaders, with guidance from the national organization, in order to implement activities and discussions that are relevant to the students at each school.  Nationally recognized programs such as The Sam Spady Story (which teaches responsible use of alcohol) and ResponseAbility (which address bystander behavior) are available to our chapters through generous grants from Phi Mu Foundation.

Always Phi Mu: The Senior Experience:
You're going to college with a purpose in mind: to get an education that prepares you for the next phase of life. Our programming is in step with that goal. The final stage of our collegiate experience programming, Always Phi Mu: The Senior Experience, was designed to prepare Phi Mus for life after college. The Senior Experience builds skills and provides the resources that students need to become productive members of their communities after graduation. Meetings focus on topics such as career goals, living on your own, financial management, relationships after college, as well as sisterhood.  With its emphasis on preparing for life after graduation, the program gives collegians a wealth of hands-on knowledge that will give them an edge as they make the all-important transition into life beyond college. The ultimate goal is that our seniors graduate prepared for whatever path in life they chose.  Always Phi Mu, the online component to The Senior Experience, is available to all Phi Mu members and alumnae.
