The Phi Mu National Council is pleased to announce that registration for the 2010 Leadership Academy is now open. The National Council designed this program for collegiate chapter presidents, chapter advisers, and one emerging leader from each chapter to enhance their leadership potential. An emerging leader can be a younger member of your chapter who currently serves on the executive committee or someone who has expressed interest in a future leadership position within the chapter. The inaugural Leadership Academy will be held in Peachtree City, Ga. on March 5 – 7, 2010. It is expected that each chapter will participate. Additional chapter members who wish to attend will be placed on a wait list and will be notified should space become available.
With a completely new format and focus from leadership conferences of the past, the 2010 Leadership Academy will follow an institute philosophy, meaning that all participants in attendance will have a shared experience. The weekend will feature hands-on learning activities, small group processing, and individual-focused reflection. Separate breakout sessions will occur for chapter presidents, emerging leaders and advisers and will be led by trained officers and staff.
Women participating in the Academy will engage in skills based training in the following areas: delegation, conflict management, empowerment and values-based/ethical decision making. All participants will leave the event with a plan of action for creating positive change within their chapter.
