The Phi Mu Experience
The Phi Mu Experience is a sequential program designed to focus on the needs of collegiate women during all stages of their collegiate life. It was created to insure that each Phi and collegiate member has her best possible experience. The experience begins the moment she pledges Phi Mu and becomes a new member, or Phi. A Phi Mu's senior year will be especially rewarding because we have developed a totally unique experience for our seniors. We realize that seniors have different needs and goals so Always Phi Mu: The Senior Experience was developed to assist our seniors in preparing for life after college. Networking, interview skills and financial management are just a few of the topics we will offer in this program. The ultimate goal is that our seniors graduate ready for whatever path they chose.

Always Phi Mu: The Senior Experience
This program, which focuses on the needs of fourth and fifth year members, places emphasis on “real world” skills. This valuable resource will feature a separate chapter development program focusing on resume writing, interview skills, financial management, and other life skills necessary to be successful once they graduate. With its emphasis on getting prepared for life after graduation, the program gives collegians a wealth of hands on knowledge that will give them an edge as they make the all-important transition into life beyond college.
The Phi Mu Experience will help collegians make a smooth transition into alumnae life while encouraging them to fulfill their promise of a lifelong commitment to the Fraternity.
Leadership Academy
Leadership Academy is held annually to encourage chapter officers to learn and grow as leaders, using Phi Mu’s values and ethics as a foundation on which to build. The 2010 Leadership Academy will follow an institute philosophy, meaning that all participants in attendance will have a shared experience. The weekend will feature hands-on learning activities, small group processing, and individual-focused reflection. Separate breakout sessions will occur for chapter presidents, emerging leaders and advisers and will be led by trained officers and staff. Women participating in the Academy will engage in skills based training in the following areas: delegation, conflict management, empowerment and values-based/ethical decision making. All participants will leave the event with a plan of action for creating positive change within their chapter!
Commitment to Excellence (CTE)
The purpose of the CTE is to provide our chapters with expectations, a goal setting tool, and an evaluation guide so they can improve in all areas of Phi Mu. The CTE is a Phi Mu accreditation document that all Phi Mu chapters must complete yearly. The CTE is a guide that focuses on standards and expectations for our chapters. Chapters are scored in areas and then the evaluation process occurs between the chapter officers and area officers. Chapters that score a 90 or above become part of the Philomathean Society. The Philomathean Society is the highest recognition given to our most outstanding chapters.
After the evaluation, chapters incorporate their new goals/challenges into their “Chapter Plan.”
The Sam Spady Story
The Sam Spady program is provided by Phi Mu Foundation for new member education in our collegiate chapters, and has also been modified to fit the needs of Phi Mu alumnae. This program tells the story of a young woman, Sam Spady, who lost her life due to the misuse of alcohol. Binge drinking kills more than 1,400 college students each year. By telling Sam’s story this program educates students and parents about this danger.

ResponseAbility
The ResponseAbility program addresses “bystander behavior” and the importance of taking action in potentially harmful situations. The overall message to college students is to believe in yourself, live by your values, and have the self-confidence and self-esteem to stand up for what you know is right. This program is designed for all chapter members and the DVD and facilitator’s guide were provided to each Phi Mu chapter through a grant from Phi Mu Foundation.
