Phi Mu Fraternity has a rich history which dates back to our founding in 1852 as the Philomathean Society. The Fraternity is proud to unveil a digital site showcasing more than 160 years of our archives.

The Phi Mu Digital Archives Collection is now available online. It focuses on the earliest days of the organization. The site also includes sections on philanthropic efforts, conventions and photos of treasured memorabilia. It will eventually include materials through the present day and from individual chapters.

The project was made possible through a grant from Phi Mu Foundation.

HistoryIT, a Maine-based company that helps organizations make their historical collections widely accessible, developed the Digital Archives. Before beginning their work, a team from HistoryIT traveled to the Headquarters in 2017 to assess the archives, take photos and speak with staff and volunteers.

Phi Mu and HistoryIT have a strategic plan for the long-term preservation and continued digital sharing of its history. Additional content on the site, ranging from Philomathean Society ledgers to dresses worn by Past National Presidents, will ultimately be included.
