Phi Mu Fraternity is excited for our second annual Miracle Market, an alumnae initiative and service event for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals!
About Miracle Market
Following the exciting announcement at convention of Phi Mu’s commitment to raise $10 million in 5 years for CMN Hospitals, the Alumnae Engagement Department developed the Miracle Market initiative to encourage alumnae to get involved with their local hospitals.
The first Miracle Market took place at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis,Tenn where more than 250,000 children are treated each year. Phi Mu’s Miracle Market provided fun activities and opportunities for children and their families to experience some holiday cheer. Children and families were able to “shop” for gifts to give to one another at no cost. Because of our collegiate and alumnae members, we were able to provide well over 1,500 gifts! This was enough to service the hospital at full capacity 3 times!
Miracle Market 2019
The 2019 Miracle Market will be held at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham on Tuesday, December 3! Not only will we be hosting our market, we will also be hosting the FROZEN 2 movie premiere at the hospital! Our team will transform the first floor of the hospital into Arendelle for the day, host an activity for the patients and their caregivers and provide them with the opportunity to shop.
More about the gifts that are on our list
We need your help in stocking up the hospital for the holiday season. With 380 total patient rooms – 332 beds and 48 NICU bassinets – we will need roughly 1,500 gifts to supply every patient and a care giver a gift for the season. At our event, we expect that 150 patients will attend our Miracle Market and the Frozen 2 premiere in the on-site theatre, but many children are unable to actually leave their rooms. Each child who is unable to attend will be visited by a hospital staff member with their very own “in room movie basket” filled with goodies and prizes that they can enjoy from their bedside! As you look through our Wishlist, know that we really do need everything, even those crazy popcorn containers! Each item has been requested by the hospital in hopes that our members can fulfill the need. Every purchase, small or large, will truly make an impact.
How you can volunteer
Volunteer opportunities have now come to a close. Please note that in order to be an on-site volunteer, you must have had your annual flu vaccine. This is a mandatory requirement of the hospital. We also know that illness happens. If you or anyone in your household has been exposed to the flu or any other virus at the time of the event, we ask that you do not attend and contact us immediately so we can fill your spot with a new volunteer.
